Mississippi State pulled the trigger on the very talented lefty pitcher Cole Whitman, and Whitman pulled it right back by committing to the Bulldog pitching staff.
"I committed today," said Whitman. "I called (MSU pitching) Coach Butch (Thompson) and told him. I went up there on a visit and they offered me. I thought about it for a little while and talked to my family about it and decided that that was where I wanted to go.
"I am pretty excited about the commitment."
It was a relatively easy decision for the talented pitcher.
"It is where I have always wanted to go," said Whitman. "I like the fanbase and the crowds that they have. I liked the atmosphere and the coaches. They know what they are talking about."
Whitman also had an offer from one of his state's in-state schools and the possibility of other offers.
"Auburn had offered and UAB was going to offer," said Whitman "And I had started being recruited by Vandy and Alabama."
But he saw no need to wait to see who else was going to offer because he knew Mississippi State was the right fit for him.
"It was the right fit," said Whitman. "It feels like home there and the people there seem like my kind of people."
