Big Dawg: Leo Lewis

Linebacker Leo Lewis of Brookhaven High School elected to re-open his recruitment on Friday. While on campus at Mississippi State, Lewis picked up the phone and informed the coaches at Alabama that he has reconsidering his earlier commitment to the Tide. Lewis took part in drills at Mississippi State during the Big Dawg camp and the Bulldogs are firmly in the game with the talented linebacker.

"I have been thinking about opening things back up for a few weeks now," said Lewis of his decision to decommit. "I just feel like I rushed things and I wasn't comfortable with that decision anymore.

"I just feel like I need to slow everything down and see what all everybody has to say before I make any more decisions.

"I am not making another commitment anytime soon.

"I am just going to go through the process and see which school fits me best."

Mississippi State did their part to roll out the Maroon carpet on Friday night with Lewis and several big time players on campus.

"I had a great time," said Lewis. "It was a fun camp and there was a lot of great talent here.

"I enjoyed competing and I enjoyed working with Coach (Geoff) Collins.

"He really pushed me and I love how he coaches. I know he's a great linebacker coach."

The Bulldogs picked up eight verbal commitments during the day including some names Lewis is very familiar with.

The All-American selection reports that Starkville is an attractive option.

"Mississippi State was high on my list even before tonight," said Lewis. "I enjoy being up here around the coaches and it's a good program.

"I know a lot of people coming here and that's something to think about too.

"I would say Mississippi State is right up there at the top right now."
