Bulldogs' Momentum Continues

Mississippi State picked up seven verbal pledges for the 2015 signing class on Friday. The Bulldogs added another earlier today when Collins star Mark McLaurin announced his intentions of joining Dan Mullen and his staff's impressive recruiting run.

"I just felt this was the right time to do it," said McLaurin of his commitment. "I sat down with my mom, my dad and my head coach and I knew this was the right time."

McLaurin reports that he is relieved to have the process behind him, but he enjoyed getting to know the schools who were interested in him joining their roster.

"I appreciate all of the schools and coaches that recruited me, but I just feel like Mississippi State is the place for me," said McLaurin. "I know a lot of people going up there, but that wasn't a big part of things.

"I just felt like Mississippi State was the right place for me and it's just a bonus that so many other people I know are going there."

The Collins star is expected to play safety in Starkville and he is eager to get to work.

"We are putting together a great class and we're going to be do some big things," said McLaurin. "We want to bring a championship to Starkville, Mississippi."

McLaurin was on hand Friday night when several recruits made the move to be part of the Bulldogs' class.

Today he brought some excitement of his very own.

"I told the coaches that I was ready to be a Bulldog and they told me how excited they were to have me," said McLaurin. "Coach (Tony) Hughes told me that he was happy to have me as part of the Bulldog family now."

McLaurin chose the Bulldogs over offers from Arkansas State, Memphis, Ole Miss and Southern Miss.

McLaurin is the 26th verbal pledge for the 2015 signing class and the thirteenth Mississippian to join the class.
