Dawgs Keep Rolling

Mississippi State picked up commitment number 27 earlier today when Lilburn, GA offensive lineman Trey Derouen made the call just days before the Bulldogs take the practice field for the first day of fall practice. Coach Dan Mullen and his staff are clearly on a roll picking up ten verbal pledges in the month of July alone.

The Bulldogs were part of trio of finalists, before getting the nod as Derouen's school of choice.

"I was down to Mississippi State, Duke, and Illinois, but I made my decision last week while talking with my family in Louisiana," said Derouen. "I chose Mississippi State."

The three star interior offensive lineman reports that Mississippi State simply out recruited the other programs pursing him.

"We prayed on it and Mississippi State has been showing the most love out of anybody," explained Derouen. "I stayed in contact with them better.

They sent mother's day cards, father's day cards, and it is the little things that really separated them from the rest."

Before making the call, Derouen sought the counsel of several family members.

"I talked with my parents, uncles, aunts, cousins, and even my grandparents about this," explained Derouen. "It was a family decision." Now many of his family members who grew up cheering for LSU, will be wearing some Maroon and White as Derouen prepares to spend his college career in Starkville playing against the Bayou Bengals rather than for them.

Derouen chose the Bulldogs over offers from Duke, Georgia Tech and Vanderbilt among others.
