"I have offers from Western Kentucky, Southern Miss, Mississippi State, Central Florida, Wake Forest, Houston, UL (Louisiana), ULM, Northern Colorado, Louisiana Tech, South Alabama and Tulane," said Hayes. "There are a few other schools recruiting me too."
The summer has been an important time for Hayes to do his research about his college future.
Two summer camping trips took place over the course of the past few months.
"I went to camp at UL and I took an unofficial visit there," said Hayes. "I went to Mississippi State for their camp too."
The Cajuns have shown a serious level of interest in the talented Hayes.
"I like all of the coaches over there," said Hayes of Mark Huspeth and his staff. "Coach (Tim) Rebowe and Coach (Tim) Edwards stay in touch with me a lot.
"I hear from somebody over there every day."
The Bulldogs of Mississippi State offered Hayes after a strong June camp session.
"I hear from Coach (Greg) Knox and Coach (David) Turner, the D line coach a good bit," said Hayes. "I learned a lot about playing football from just spending one day up there at camp.
"It was a really good experience."
Hayes reports that Louisiana, Louisiana Tech, Mississippi State, and Wake Forest are setting the recruiting pace right now, but there is still time for other schools to jockey for position.
"I am not sure when I am going to make a decision," said Hayes. "It may be during the season or maybe after.
"I am just trying to find the place where I feel the most comfortable.
"I want to go some game and take some visits and then I will make a decision."
