Cooper Enrolls at Co-Lin

Linebacker Deshon Cooper had been granted a provisional clearance to take part in workouts at Mississippi State pending final review and approval by the NCAA clearinghouse. Genespage has learned today that the three star linebacker has enrolled at Co-Lin community college and is set to begin work with the the Wolfpack.

Deshon Cooper committed to Mississippi State in the summer of 2013 prior to ever visiting the campus.

Cooper made his pledge to Bulldog defensive line boss and area recruiter David Turner prior to the 2013 Big Dawg camp.

The Columbia High (GA) standout had a solid showing under the direction of Mississippi State linebacker coach Geoff Collins during the Big Dawg camp, which only solidified Cooper's decision to join the Mississippi State program.

Despite some late interest from other programs, including the University of Georgia, Cooper remained True Maroon throughout the recruiting process.

There was some optimism that Cooper would be able to met NCAA's entrance requirements for freshman, but it appears that the final stamp of approval from the NCAA did not arrive as hoped.

Cooper will now spend the next three semesters at Co-Lin on a track to graduate in December of 2015 with plans to enroll in Starkville in January of 2016.

The talented linebacker will play alongside another Mississippi State 2014 signee in Harrison Central star defensive back Lashard Durr.

The pair will be shown the ropes in Wesson by 2015 Bulldog verbals Jonathan Calvin and Donald Gray who are on track to enroll at Mississippi State following the fall semester.
