Sooner or Later?

East Mississippi Community College offensive lineman Jamal Danley remains one of the top available junior college prospects in the southeast. The Byhalia, Mississippi native has collected over a dozen offers, but currently has his eye on a trio of programs who plan to host the talented standout officially in the coming weeks.

"Everything is about the same right now," said Danley. "I am still looking at the same three, Oklahoma, Mississippi State and Florida.

"Oklahoma leads, then it's Mississippi State, but I have been talking to Florida a lot more lately.

"I am ready to take these visits and then make my decision."

Danley came close to making his decision earlier this month, but stopped short of making the call to join to the Oklahoma Sooners' football program.

"I was about ready to commit," said Danley. "I went and talked with Coach (Buddy) Stephens about everything and he got my dad on the phone.

"We talked about everything and we decided that it was best for me to wait until I take my visits.

"I don't want to commit and then have to decommit and go somewhere else.

"I need to take these visits and be sure I am going to like the schools and see what all they have to offer before I make my decision.

"I only want to commit once."

Danley is schedule to officially visit Norman the weekend Oklahoma hosts Tennessee.

A visit to Florida is pretty much set, but it appears that the Bulldogs of Mississippi State will get to roll out the Maroon carpet first.

"I might take my official to Mississippi State next weekend," said Danley. "I am not sure about that yet.

"I have to talk to them about all of that.

"I hear from Coach (Dan) Mullen every couple of days.

"He sends me messages and let's me know they still want me to be a Bulldog."

In addition to making plans for his post junior college future, Danley is doing his part to help the Lions of East Mississippi repeat as NJCAA National Champions.

"Practice has been going good," said Danley. "We are trying to focus on all of the little things now.

"I feel like we have a good team and we have the chance to have a good season.

"We're just getting ready for Southwest and then we have Co-Lin coming up here.

"That's going to be a great game."
