With anticipation running high for the upcoming season, over 3,000 Mississippi State football fans, despite an extremely hot day, came out to cheer on, get autographs from and mingle with the Mississippi State football team.

At about noon the beginning of Fan Day started with Coach Sherrill introducing his assistant coaches. Each assistant coach introduced all of his players with a veteran member from each position speaking to the crowd. Players who briefly spoke were kicker John Michael Marlin, quarterback Wayne Madkin, running back Dicenzo Miller, offensive linemen Kenric Fairchild and Tommy Watson, tight end Donald Lee, wide receiver Harold Lindsey, defensive tackle Dorsett Davis, defensive end Conner Stephens, linebacker Kamau Jackson, and defensive back Shawn Byrdsong.

After the players were through speaking, all the players then went to tables, where they would sign autographs. Once they were seated, the gates were opened and the fans, young and old alike, came rushing down to the field with posters, footballs and other things in hand ready to get autographs from their favorite players and coaches. The players and coaches happily signed autographs until about 2:30 p.m.
