Mississippi State offers 2016 WR A.J. Brown

Three games into his junior season, Starkville High School product A.J. Brown has already hauled in six touchdown passes. After a huge game over rival West Point, Brown learned that Mississippi State had seen enough and was ready to offer the rising star a scholarship. Brown reports that the good news from the Bulldogs could prove to be life changing.

"I talked with Coach Dan Mullen and he told me that they were offering me a scholarship," said Brown. "I couldn't even say anything. I was just so happy.

"All I could do was just smile.

"I am really glad that they offered me.

"Coach Mullen was telling me that he hoped I would be a Bulldog."

Growing up in Starkville, Brown is well acquainted with what the Bulldogs have to offer. The 6-2, 220 pounder has thought about what it would be like to play in Davis Wade Stadium several times throughout his life.

"I like them a lot," said Brown of Mississippi State. "I'm looking forward to seeing what all happens and maybe I will be a part of the Dawg Fam."

Brown reports additional interest from Ole Miss and Purdue, but right now his focus is on his high school team and their potential run at a state championship.

"I feel like the sky is the limit for us," said Brown. "We just have to take things one week at a time and just prepare like we should for each game.

"Things have been going pretty good so far, but there are some things we can do better."

The Yellowjackets are currently 3-0 on the 2014 season with blowout wins over Noxubee County, Oxford and rival West Point.

Starkville High will be back in action next week against Florence, Alabama after a bye week this week.

"We had a good practice today and next week, we'll be getting ready to go over there," said Brown. "I haven't watched film of them yet, but I know it's going to be a good game."
