"I feel like I am just a better player this year," said Calvin. "I am just feeling better and playing better out there.

"Our defense has been playing pretty good. We wanted to come out and play good after losing to East last week."

Calvin recently picked up an new offer from another SEC team and pair of others remain in contact despite his commitment to Mississippi State.

"LSU offered me the day the East (Mississippi) game," said Calvin. "I went home that weekend and I heard from them. I wasn't expecting them to offer."

"Kentucky and Auburn are still on me pretty good."

The former Murrah High Mustang reports that he is still solid in his commitment to Mississippi State.

"I talk to Coach (Tony) Hughes all of the time," explained Calvin. "I talk with some of the other coaches too, but Coach Hughes is the main one.

"I went up there for the Southern Miss game and the UAB game and I had good time. Coop (Deshon Cooper) went with me."

The season opener allowed the pair to see the newly expanded Davis Wade stadium up close.

"The new stadium looks nice," said Calvin. "I liked all of that and I liked watching the team.

"I am going to be going back up there and I am going to be taking my official up there sometime, but I am not sure when that is going to be.

"I am looking forward to it."
