Going up against the No. 3 defense in the country statistically, Prescott recorded a 89.9 quarterback rating according to ESPN Stats & Info, the second-highest against LSU in the last 10 years. The award was the first offensive player of the week honor for MSU since Tyler Russell picked up the nod on Nov. 19, 2012.
Beckwith became the first former walk-on to earn SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week in school history. The Benton, Miss., native led an offensive line which racked up 302 yards rushing on the ground and provided protection for 570 yards of total offense, the most allowed by LSU since prior to 2005 (Les Miles era). Beckwith tallied five knockdowns. Thanks to his efforts, MSU recorded its first victory in Tiger Stadium since 1991.
Prescott and Beckwith return to action Saturday, Oct. 4, as the No. 14 Bulldogs host top-10 Texas A&M inside Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field. The 11 a.m. CT kickoff will be televised live on ESPN.
