Smitherman Set for Mississippi State Saturday

Minor High School (AL) product Maurice Smitherman committed to Mississippi State back in June. On Saturday, Smitherman and his family will take in their first game in Davis Wade Stadium. It will be the first of many, but one of only a handful for the three star corner as a Bulldog spectator.

"I haven't been able to see them play or anything, so far," said Smitherman. "I am going to the game this weekend with my family. It should be a lot of fun."

Smitherman has high expectations for his first game day experience.

"I have been talking with Coach (Geoff) Collins and Coach (Deshea) Townsend," said Smitherman. "They are telling me that they are excited about me getting down there this week and they won't us to make sure we are turned up.

"I am looking forward to being around the other commitments and having a chance to hang out with some of the players and coaches.

"I have been in touch with Keith Mixon. He is probably the one I talk to the most, so I am looking forward to seeing him.

"I want to see everything and see what it's like over there on gameday."

Smitherman reports that his commitment to Mississippi State remains strong.

"I am still solid and I have a great relationship with all of the coaches over there," said Smitherman. "I am looking forward to seeing them this weekend.

"I enjoy it when I go over there and I want my family to be able to get to know everybody too."

In addition to enjoying the sights and sounds of Mississippi State, Smitherman expects to see another Bulldog victory.

"Mississippi State is going to win the game," said Smitherman. "It's going to be a good game, but people have been sleeping on Mississippi State.

"This year is their year and I am excited about getting down there to see it."
