"I actually committed to Mississippi State last Saturday," explained Mullins. "It wasn't this Saturday.
"I told Coach (Geoff) Collins last week that I was ready to be a Bulldog."
Collins serves as Mullins' area recruiter, so the pair have had the chance to build a solid relationship.
"I really like Coach Collins a lot and I like Coach (David) Turner too," said Mullins. "They won't me to come in play defensive end and that's what I want too."
Mullins was on yesterday as the Bulldogs manhandled the Aggies of Texas A&M.
"I thought the defense played great and I think I would fit right in with them," said Mullins. "The crowd was really loud and it was a great atmosphere.
"I was glad I was there and I am going back next week when they play Auburn."
Mullins has been in the Bulldog commitment conversation since a strong camp showing in June. There was some talk about him joining the class then, but things were not officially settled until now.
"I really don't know what went on with all of that," said Mullins. "I know that Mississippi State is one of the teams that I have always liked.
"I have liked them since I was little and when they gave me the chance to be a Bulldog, I wanted to do that."
