Brown to Visit Starkville

Mississippi State is finalizing their plans to fill out their 2015 signing class and offensive lineman are a priority. Florida commitment George Brown has been in contact with the Bulldogs for a few weeks now. With the word coming down that Gator head coach Will Muschamp will not be back, Brown is considering all options should things not go as planned with the Gators.

"I have been talking with Mississippi State the past two or three weeks," said Brown. "They have been wanting me to visit and I have been going back and forth with my dad about it.

"I decided that I wanted to go ahead and take that visit this weekend and see what they have to offer. I am going in this weekend, so I will be able to see the game day atmosphere and all of that. That was part of the reason I wanted to go ahead and visit now."

Brown reports that the Bulldogs have some connections with his family.

"My dad has a great relationship with Coach (Greg) Knox and Coach (John) Hevesy," explained Brown. "They both recruited my brother Aaron. My dad knows them from all of that and he has a relationship with them, because he got to know them when my brother was being recruited."

While Brown reports that he still considers himself a verbal commitment to the Florida Gators, he is headed to Starkville with an open mind.

"I am open to what Mississippi State has to show me," said Brown. "I am considering all of my options right now, so I want to see how things go there.

"I am waiting to see what happens at Florida and see who they hire. At the same time, I want to look at some other options just in case I don't have the same type of relationship with the new coaches at Florida.

"I am just going to see how things go."

Brown is one of several visitors this weekend. Brown will be on campus with Mississippi State verbals Jonathan Calvin and Donald Gray along with junior college targets Julian Allen of Lackawanna Junior College and Tony Bridges of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Bridges' teammate offensive tackle Martinas Rankin is also considering an invite to see the Bulldogs take on Vanderbilt in the Bulldogs' final home game of the 2014 season.
