GPTV: Trey Derouen In the Trenches

Offensive line recruiting was a priority for Mississippi State for the 2015 signing class. The Bulldogs dipped into Georgia and secured the verbal pledge of Parkview High offensive lineman Trey Derouen. See highlights of Derouen in this video presentation.

Trey Derouen lines up at right tackle on the high school level, but he projects as an offensive guard on the college level. Derouen has the size college recruiters are looking for and he plays with a real nasty streak.

Derouen does a very good job of sustaining blocks and remaining engaged with his man until the play is over. He is active with his hands and is able to secure inside leverage with regularity.

He has played much of the 2014 season with a brace on his right knee and it appears that his mobility has been impacted a bit from it. Despite that issue, Derouen is able to keep his man out and away from his quarterback.

Derouen appears to be most comfortable firing off of the line and moving forward with his first step rather than dropping back and giving ground in pass protection. With his size and skill set, he seems best suited for interior line play.
