Team Mississippi: Chris Stamps

Warren Central standout Chris Stamps was an obvious selection for the Mississippi/Alabama All-Star game. Stamps, the state's top corner, turned in a big senior season and led a Viking defense that had one of the best seasons in recent memory. Now on the practice field for the annual grudge match with the stars from Alabama, Stamps is again proving to be one of the state's best players.

"It's all fun," said Stamps of All-Star week. "Competition is at an all time high. Everybody is preparing to win this Saturday. I like our team and I feel great about the team we have."

Stamps is taking this week to get to know several of his fellow Mississippi State pledges much better before they all head to Starkville next year.

"It's fun being out here together," said Stamps. "It just shows you what we're going to have go against on the next level.

"We're having a great time and everybody is crazy. We're just enjoying being together, being away from home and just playing the game we love."

Stamps says that he is focusing most of his energies on this weekend's game and not really doing a lot of recruiting.

"I am doing what I can do to help us get ready to get a win this Saturday," said Stamps. "I am not talking that much about recruiting. All of these guys pretty much have their minds made up. We're just trying to go get a win over Alabama together."
