Bassfield star Jamal Peters was able to win three state titles during his high school career. "It is a good feeling winning the state championship," said Peters. "It's fun to be able to come up here after that and play with a lot of my friends and most of them are committed to Mississippi State.

"It's a good feeling to be around them."

Bassfield was the first school in Mississippi High School football history to win three straight titles and Peters has now matched that total. The four star talent reports that winning has become a way of life for the Yellowjackets.

"I am used to winning state championships," said Peters. "I am not overwhelmed by all of that. I am just glad that I was able to leave Bassfield with another championship. Now I want to play Alabama and beat them.

"Playing with Coach (Lance) Mancuso helps me out there. He has me playing linebacker, so he has to help me some. It sort of feels like I am back at Bassfield."

Peters reports that having the chance to play with many of his future teammates at Mississippi State is an important part of the All-Star experience.

"It's a good feeling, because when we go up there and play at Mississippi State I can be used to playing them," explained Peters. "I feel like that will make Mississippi State even better."

The long time Mississippi State verbal plans to visit Mississippi State the weekend of January 16th. While he has not set up any other official visits, he has a pair of invitations he is welcome to accept should he decide to.

"I might visit LSU or Ole Miss," said Peters. "The other commitments are telling me that I don't need to go visit either one of them, because I am already committed to Mississippi State.

"If I go anywhere else, it will just be going up somewhere to visit."

While there are several future Bulldogs playing in this game, Peters is trying to add to that number with some positive peer pressure about the Maroon and White.

"I am trying to get my boy Leo (Lewis) to come to Mississippi State with us," said Peters. "I am trying to get half of the ones committed to Ole Miss to commit to Mississippi State."

While most of the All-Stars will wear different school colors next fall, Peters is hopeful that the All-Star squad can come together as one in the name of Mississippi State and earn a big win this weekend.

"I think this could be the best team we have ever had," said Peters of the All-Star roster. "We are loaded on defense and we are petty loaded on offense too. I think we can go and get a win this Saturday. That's what we're planning on."
