Mississippi State went to the junior college ranks in hopes of adding a potential starter to the roster in time for spring practice. Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College four star offensive lineman Martinas Rankin elected to sign with the Bulldogs today over offers from several programs including Florida, Oklahoma and Ole Miss who rounded out the final four.
prepped in high school at Mendenhall High and went on to sign with Mississippi Gulf Coast following his senior year. Rankin grew in both size and ability during his two years at Perkinston and is now considered one of the top junior college offensive lineman in the nation.
Rankin collected offers from Florida, Kentucky, Louisville, Mississippi State, Missouri, Ole Miss, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas among others during his sophomore campaign on the junior college level.
Earlier today at a 9:30 press conference with his parents by his side, Rankin chose Mississippi State.
The four star talent is one of three junior college standouts inking with the Bulldogs today. Rankin joins All-American wide receiver Donald Gray and defensive end Jonathan Calvin of Copiah-Lincoln.
