Campbell Still Considering Options

Yazoo City defensive end Gabriel Campbell said early on that he might wait until signing day to announce his college decision. Campbell was not looking to draw the process out or play games with college coaches, he simply wanted to take his time and see how things went with his senior year. His high school football team struggled to through a two win season.

Despite not having the send off he hoped for on the prep level, Gabriel Campbell, played hard and did his best to help the team have some measure of success. When the Mississippi/Alabama All-Star roster was announced, Campbell's name was lot included.

To say that the 2014 campaign went less than anticipated would be putting it mildly.

With no more high school games to play, Campbell is now fully focused on his college recruitment. A recruitment that has enabled him to collect several offers from some of America's top football conferences.

An offer sheet of double digit options has been narrowed down to three with another dark horse still in the race a bit.

"My top three are Oklahoma, Mississippi State and Ole Miss," said Campbell. "I have already been to Oklahoma on a visit. Mississippi State is talking about me coming in on the 16th and Ole Miss the 23rd. Kentucky is trying to get me to visit too, but I am not sure if I am going to go up there or when I would go. They are still talking about it."

Based on recent readings, one would think Campbell likes who has seen most recently, but the talented edge rusher reports that his selection process remains open.

"I don't have a dream school or a top school or anything like that," said Campbell. "I have a top three and I am still looking at all of them. I still have some visits to take before I make my decision."

When that decision may come is still a matter of unresolved timing.

"You never know what's going to happen with these visit," Campbell explained. "I might decide after I take one of these visits or I may just wait until signing day. I am not sure yet."
