"I wasn't expecting all of this, so early," admitted Elder. "I was hoping for some good things to happen, but I already have five offers and all of them came in December. South Carolina was first, then Cal, then Mississippi State, then UNC (North Carolina) and then Tennessee offered me after I went to a an All-Star game, camp deal."
What is more surprising to Elder is that most of these options came out of nowhere.
"North Carolina is the only one of the schools that has offered me that I have visited," said Elder. "I didn't really know that the other schools were interested in me until they offered me.
"I plan to go see all of the others for junior days if the dates don't conflict. I want to get out and see all of the schools that have offered me to see what all they have to offer."
Elder plans to keep his options open for a while and see if any other schools make a move during the spring evaluation period or during the summer camp sessions.
"I am not in any hurry," Elder explained. "I really want to take my time with everything and go see as many of the schools as I can. I have heard from both Georgia and Georgia Tech too and they both say that they like me.
"I feel like there will be some other schools that end up offering me, so I just want to be patient with everything before I make a decision."
In addition to a strong football program, Elder is looking for a well rounded college experience.
"I want to have a good relationship with all of the coaches and the players and just have a bond with everybody involved with football," said Elder. "I want to go somewhere that has a great campus atmosphere and good academics. Academics are going to be a big part of my decision. That's real important to me.
"As far as football goes, I want to go to a team that plays against other great teams and plays in big games. I feel like I have some good options and I am looking forward to enjoying the process and seeing how things go."
