Benton learned of his offer from the Bulldogs after speaking with Mississippi State assistant Deshea Townsend.
"He told me that they were offering me a scholarship and that I could play inside or outside linebacker for them," Benton said. "I was excited it about. It's another good offer.
"I want to play linebacker and that's what everybody is talking about me playing. I feel like that's my best position and that's what I am used to."
With five "good" offers in hand, Benton believes that his recruitment is off and running.
"I never expected all of this to happen so early," said Benton. "It's good though. I like all of the schools that have offered me and I am expecting some more schools to offer me later on."
While some 2016 prospects are already sorting through their options and picking favorites, Benton is content to wait the process out.
"I am just going to keep everybody even for now," said Benton. "I just want to look at everybody and see where I fit in the best. I am looking for a school that is just going to take me in and make me feel like I am part of the family."
