Jones Eager To Sign

Shortly after attending junior day at Mississippi State in 2014, Clay-Chalkville defensive lineman Kendell Jones picked up an offer from Mississippi State, his first. It turns out the opportunity to play for Dan Mullen's Bulldogs was the only scholarship offer Jones would need. The long time verbal pledge is now just counting down the days to make his selection official.

"They were my first offer," Jones said of the Bulldogs. "I know that I made the right choice for me. I am just so excited and ready to get up there and get to work."

Jones had the chance two weekends ago to visit with the Mississippi State staff and tour the campus one final time as a recruit.

"I had a great time on my visit," Jones said. "Braxton Hoyett was my host and he is a really good guy. He told me about how it is up there and about how hard you have to work. He told me that when I get there, I need to be ready to go to work."

Jones and his family enjoyed getting to know the Mississippi State family better during his official visit. The time spent recreating with future teammates appears to have been time well spent.

"We spent a lot of time with the other players playing video games and just hanging out," Jones shared. "That was really the best part of the trip for me. I enjoyed being able to bond with all the other guys on the team."

With no other visits planned, Jones elected not to play any games with his recruitment and hold true to his word to sign with Mississippi State.

"I am just ready to get to signing day now," Jones said. "It's going to be a great feeling to be able to sign those papers on Wednesday. I am excited about the future and I appreciate the chance to play for Mississippi State.

"Mississippi State was with me before I had any stars and before I was ranked. They believed in me before anybody else did and that means something to me. I know that I am going to the right place and I am ready to be there."
