Tuesday Baseball Game Recap

Tuesday night, the Mississippi State Gray team defeated the Maroon team 3-2.

The winning run, which was scored by Cody Brown, was knocked in by Seth Heck (pictured) in the top of the 4th inning.

In the top of the 1st inning, Seth Heck had singled and scored the first run of the game. He wound up going 2-for-3 in the game with a run scored and an RBI. Cody Brown was also 2-for-3 for the Gray team.

Pitching-wise for the Gray team freshman Paxton Stover (83-85, 85 mph) started and threw 3.1 innings, giving up 2 runs (1 earned) on 1 hit and 3 walks while striking out 2.

Sophomore Zac Houston (88-89, 90 mph) took over for Stover in the 4th and got the two batters that he faced to groundout and strikeout.

Senior Trevor Fitts (87-88, 90 mph), continuing to be the closer on the Bulldog squad, threw the final inning, giving up a walk and striking out three.

The Maroon team's only hit was a single by Ryan Gridley.

Freshman Cole Gordon (84-87, 87 mph) started for the Maroon team and threw 3 innings, allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits, 2 walks and a hit's batsman.

Sophomore Dakota Hudson (91-93, 94 mph) threw the fourth inning, allowing 1 run on 2 hits, 1 walk and a hit's batsman while striking out 2.

Sophomore Vance Tatum (88-89, 90 mph) continued to look impressive, throwing the final inning of the game for the Maroon team, striking out 2 of the three batters that he faced. His other out was a groundout to the shortstop.
