Saturday Baseball Game Recap

Saturday afternoon, the Mississippi State Maroon baseball team defeated the Gray team 4-1.


Both teams scored in the top of the 1st to make the score 1-1 after one.

The Maroon team took the lead with another run in the top of the 3rd on an RBI single by Matt Spruill.

The Maroons added two more runs in the top of the 6th to make the final tally 4-1.

Jacob Robson had 2 hits for the Maroon team. He also had an RBI, a walk and a double.

For the Gray team, Brent Rooker also had 2 hits.

Logan Elliot (80-83, 83 mph) started for the Maroon team and threw 2.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits and 1 walk while striking out 1. Ross Mitchell (81-82, 83 mph) finished up for the Maroons, allowing 0 runs on 0 hits and 0 walks while striking out 2 in 3.1 innings.

Lucas Laster (85-86, 88 mph) started for the Grays, allowing 1 run on 5 hits and 3 walks while striking out no one. Zac Houston (91-92, 93 mph) came in relief of Laster and threw 1.2 innings, allowing no runs, no hits and no walks while striking out 2.

Jacob Billingsley (85-86, 87 mph) and Trent Waddell (83-83, 83 mph) finished the game for the Grays. Both gave up a run in the 6th.
