A Look Back at Elite Junior Day 2014

Last February, Mississippi State changed up their junior day experience. While Dan Mullen and his staff had an open junior day event later, the Bulldogs pulled in over two dozen of their top targets for a special "Elite" junior day shortly after signing day 2014. Looking back the Bulldogs had the right names on their wish list and they got several of them to join the fold earlier this month.

Twenty six Bulldog targets made the trip to Starkville on February 8th, 2014 as Mississippi State looked to get off on the right foot when it came to the 2015 signing class.

A talented mix of in state talent and out of state juniors enjoyed a day with the Bulldog staffers learning more about what the Bulldogs had to offer student athletes. Each prospect was paired up with a current Mississippi State player who should them the sights and answered their questions about what to expect should those prospect choose Mississippi State.

25 of the 26 were 2015 prospects. The lone exception was Baton Rouge standout Tre Jackson who was and remains a 2016 commitment to the University of Florida.

24 of the 26 received an offer from Mississippi State including 2016 star Tre Jackson. The two who did not pick up official tenders from the Bulldogs were Terrelle West of Clay Chalkville and Michael Collums of Yazoo County.

15 of the 26 at one point were part of the Mississippi State class, with eleven of the group signing a national letter of intent earlier this month. The four one time Dogs who wound up elsewhere were Jay Johnson, Armani Linton, Kentavious Thomas and Jarvis Wilson.
