Pitching Rotation:

Arizona has used five pitchers in starting roles this season, in this rotation order - sophomore righthander Austin Schnabel (W-L 1-1, ERA 7.71), redshirt freshman righty Robby Medel (1-0, 1.46), junior righty Tyger Talley (1-0, 4.22), redshirt junior righthander Cody Hamlin (1-0, 4.09) and redshirt junior lefthander Xavier Borde (2-0, 0.00).

Talley, who coming into this season was 6-4 with a 3.71 ERA for his career, has thrown 10.2 innings in 2 starts and 1 relief appearance, allowing 6 runs (5 earned) on 12 hits and 3 walks to go along with his 12 Ks. After pitching well against Eastern Michigan in his first outing of the season, he was roughed up against Rice, giving up 4 runs (3 earned) on 9 hits and 1 walk in 3.1 innings. Will start against Samford Friday.

Schnabel, who was 0-4 with a 9.18 ERA last season as a true freshman, has been roughed up in his last two outings, one a start and one in relief. In those two appearances he threw 9.2 innings, given up 11 runs (all earned) on 17 hits. Against then 17th ranked Rice he gave up 8 runs in 7.2 innings. Will start against MSU Friday.

Medel has pitched very well this season, giving up 4 runs (2 earned) on 11 hits and 2 walks while striking out 4 in 12.1 innings. He has pitched 7.2 and 4.2 innings in his two starts, the last one against Rice when he gave up 3 runs (1 earned) on 6 hits and 2 walks. Those have been his only walks of the season. Will start against MSU Saturday.

Borde has been the fifth starter and usually pitches during mid-week games and relieves on weekend games. Borde came into the season with a career record of 0-1 and a 7.45 ERA. This season, he has been the most effective pitcher on the staff with a 2-0 record and 0.00 ERA. In 12 innings he has given up 2 runs (both unearned) on 6 hits and 3 walks while striking out 7. Teams are only hitting .146 against him. Will start against Samford Sunday.

Hamlin, who had a career record of 5-5 with a 3.94 ERA coming into this season, has thrown 11 innings in 2 starts and 1 relief outing, giving up 5 earned runs on 8 hits and just 1 walk to go along with his 12 Ks. Teams are only hitting .200 against him.

Relief Pitching:

Arizona primarily uses five pitchers in relief - redshirt junior lefthander Xavier Borde (2-0, 0.00, 0 Save), redshirt freshman lefthander Rio Gomez (0-0, 0.00, 0 S), freshman lefthander Cameron Ming (0-0, 1.17, 0 S), sophomore righthander Bobby Dalbec (1-1, 1.80, 1 S) and junior righthander Nathan Bannister (1-0, 1.86, 1 S).

Borde, who is used primarily as a starter, has appeared in 2 games, giving up 2 runs (both unearned) in 1.1 innings of work. He appears to be used in a lefty matchup role.

Gomez is a middle reliever who has thrown in 2 games, giving up 0 runs on 0 hits and 0 walks while striking out 2 in 2.2 innings. If he is used this weekend, it will likely be a game that is a blowout.

Ming is also a middle reliever. This season, he has thrown in 4 games, allowing 1 run on 5 hits and 0 walks while striking out 5 in 7.2 innings of work. In all four of his appearance he has been the first reliever out of the bullpen.

Dalbec is Arizona's closer. In his 3 outings he has given up 2 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits and 2 walks while striking out 5 in 5 innings. In his appearances he has thrown anywhere from 1 inning to 2.1 innings.

Bannister is another middle reliever who has appeared in 3 games this season. He will normally be brought in when a starter falters early in the game. He usually throws anywhere from 2+ to 4 innings. In his three outings he has thrown 9.2 innings, giving up 2 runs on 9 hits and 1 walk while striking out 8.
