"I have offers from U of H (Houston, Alabama, Kansas, Kansas State, Mississippi State, UNLV, UTEP and a few others," Hurts reported. "I am talking to all of the schools that have offered me. You never know how this process is going to go, so I am trying to stay in touch with all of the schools that believed in me enough to pull the trigger and offer.
"I haven't really had the chance to visit any schools this year and I don't really have anything set up for the immediate future, but I want to go visit some schools this summer."
For now the talented signal caller has most of his attention on the upcoming spring practice sessions at Channelview.
"We're going to be better this year, we're going to be better, "Hurts repeated as if he was willing the team ahead. "We have a lot of people coming back and I think we have the chance to have a really good team this year. I know we're going to be better."
With a major college prospect coming back as a senior, Channelview fans are right to expect some big things from their team this year. Hurts is working hard to bring them the most polished passing product he can.
"I am working on everything," Hurts said. "I want to be better in all phases of the game. I am working on my poise, my posture, my balance and all of my mechanics. I really want to have a good year this year, so I working harder than ever."
The spring evaluation period will allow Hurts the chance to throw in front of college coaches, while the summer camp sessions will bring him to campus to audition for head coaches. By the time those camps concluded, Hurts should have a good idea about his future.
For now, the rising senior is taking it all in stride.
"I don't really have any favorites right now," Hurts said. "I am just taking it all in and getting to know all of the coaches. I am not sure when I am going to decide or anything like that. I am just going to take my time with everything."
