Florida, which crunched Marshall 49-14 behind sophomore quarterback Rex Grossman, is No. 2, and Oklahoma, which blasted Air Force 44-3, is No. 3.
The Southeastern Conference was well represented in the poll with six of its twelve members receiving votes. Number 2 ranked Florida received 262 votes followed by Tennessee (8th, 203 votes, ), LSU (14th, 130 votes), Mississippi State (18th, 82 votes), South Carolina (22nd, 56 votes) and Georgia (24th, 12 votes). Mississippi State, the last SEC team to debut this season, will play its season opener against Memphis Monday night at 6 p.m. on ESPN2.
