Heard To Visit Starkville

Mississippi State made a strong endorsement of Hamilton High standout Keshon Heard last month when the Bulldogs extended a scholarship offer. Since that time, Heard has had the chance to consider the possibilities of a college football future wearing the Maroon and White of Mississippi State.

"We are supposed to go over there and meet with the coaches on Wednesday," Heard said. "Me and my family are going over there and it's a chance for all of us to see everything and talk with everybody. I am excited about it."

There has been talk behind the scenes by some close to Heard that Mississippi State will be his school of choice come signing day 2016, but the talented athlete is unsure of is ready to end the recruiting process just yet.

"Right now, I am planning on waiting until after football season before I do anything," Heard said. "Mississippi State is up there though. Their their main school contacting me right now."

According to Heard, several in his family like the idea of staying home and representing the home state Bulldogs.

"My dad really likes Mississippi State," Heard said. "That is one of the main schools he cheers for and all of that. He is going to let me make my own decision, but I know that he likes them."

Projected as a defensive back on the next level, Heard has the raw materials needed to play in the nation's toughest conference. With sub 4.5 speed and next level change of direction, the Hamilton High star could contribute as a safety or a corner.

"I really want to play defense," Heard said. "I like offense and defense, but I really like being able to get out there and hit. I feel like I am more comfortable out there on defense. I can play safety and I feel like that would be a good spot for me."
