"Things have been going pretty good," McKinney said. "I am just enjoying the process. I am getting the chance to talk football with a lot of NFL coaches and I am just working to get better. It's been a good experience."
Several NFL teams have shown some level of interest, many inviting the talented linebacker to visit them at their team head quarters to become more acquainted with what they have to offer.
"I have already started taking visits," McKinney said. "I went to Philly about a week ago and I travel to see the (Cleveland) Browns tomorrow (Wednesday). I have a pretty busy schedule coming up. I am going to be doing a lot of travelling, so I am just trying to enjoy all of this. Not everybody gets to experience this, so I am doing my best to enjoy all of it."
Some of the teams are eager to talk about where McKinney fits their scheme and about his comfort level at different positions.
"I feel like I fit best at inside linebacker, but it really just depends on the team," McKinney explained. "Most of the teams are talking about me playing Mike (Middle) linebacker, but I am comfortable doing whatever the team needs me to do. I feel like I could play pretty much whatever."
While his NFL selection has not been made, McKinney's pro football future is assured. It is really a matter of when the Rosa Fort's product's name is called rather than if. For now, McKinney is patiently waiting out the process, but at the same time enjoying seeing what is taken place at Mississippi State as the Bulldogs prepare for the 2015 season.
"It's fun watching my old teammates compete," McKinney grinned. "I wish I was out there with them, but I am enjoying what I am doing now too. I know guys like Richie (Brown), Beniquez Brown and Zach Jackson and the other guys are hard workers. I know that they are all going to step up big this season. I have no doubts about what those guys are going to do this year."
