Mississippi State has already clinched its series with South Carolina, taking Friday’s game-two by a 7-5 score. Coming after Thursday’s 13-2 victory, the Bulldogs are 21-12, 5-6 SEC, and feeling much better about themselves. Especially on offense, as outfielder Cody Brown said.
“I think we’ve kind of found it,” Brown said in the accompanying video. “We’ve hit our groove and the bats are waking up. The pitching has been there. So I’m excited to move forward.”
Starter RHP Preston Brown (4-3) took the win and RHP Trevor Fitts got his fifth save of the season. Coach John Cohen said a decision on State’s Saturday starter was pending, with either RHP Austin Sexton or LHP Vance Tatum getting the ball. South Carolina will start freshman righty Clarke Schmidt.
