"I had a great visit over there," Thompson said. "If I had a top school then Mississippi State would be up there. Once I put my list of top schools together, Mississippi State will be one of them. I really liked it over there."
Thompson was able to tour the facilities and see the Bulldogs in action during the day's scrimmage, but the rising star reports that the people that make Mississippi State go really stood out to him.
"I had he chance to talk with Coach Manny Diaz several times and I talked with Coach Mullen. The coaching staff is what really stands out about Mississippi State," Thompson explained. "I really like Coach Diaz. Coach Mullen told me that they were looking for tough guys who work hard. He told me that they want me to come in and play inside linebacker and make those tough plays inside."
The Bulldogs' recruiting efforts are boosted by the efforts of a pair of Thompson's former high school teammates.
"Beniquez Brown and Kivon Coman are two of my best friends," Thompson said. "They have both had a great experience at Mississippi State and they want me to come over there with them. They are telling me that if I want to go somewhere to win games, become a great player, get a great degree and have a chance to play on the next level then I need to come to Mississippi State."
Several other programs including the likes of Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri and Tennessee have offered scholarships of their own. Many other programs are promising to see Thompson in action as they make their spring evaluations. With his own spring practice sessions rapidly approaching, Thompson's travels will be rather limited.
"I don't really have much set up right now," Thompson reported. "I am thinking about going over to Alabama this weekend for their "A" Day game. I have been invited back to Mississippi State for their spring game too. Beniquez and Kivon are trying to get me to come back for that."
