"I enjoyed the game. I thought they looked really good," Jones said. "The offense looked really good and the defense was playing down hill. I thought the whole team played fast. They really played hard and it was good to see it all."
Jones reports that he has already seen some players who he feels like he can pattern himself after in the immediate and long term future.
"I really like Will Redmond a lot. I love his game," Jones. "I like Brandon Bryant a lot to. He plays fast and he is always around the football. I like all of the defensive backs. They play with a lot of energy."
In addition to seeing some players on the field that excite him about the Bulldog present, Jones has seen some in the stands that would help the Bulldog future.
"A.J. Brown is becoming like a brother to me. He's getting to be like Quincy (Lenton) to me," Jones said. "We are talking about playing together. We are always talking to each other about the future. I am not going to pressure him or anything, because he's my boy. I have told him that I think Mississippi State would be a good fit for him."
Jones reports that he tells other high school standouts that Mississippi State is on the rise.
"I don't have anybody specific that I am recruiting to come to State with me," Jones admitted. "I tell all of those players that I see on campus that they need to come with us to Mississippi State."
Spring football is wrapping up for college programs, but really just beginning for high school programs. Meridian is having to work without some of it's proven players in the early going.
"I am running track right now," Jones said. "Once that's over we'll all be back on the field. We're going to be playing our spring game up at Mississippi State on May 15th."
