How did the commitment and signing happen?
"Basically, I told (Mississippi State head) Coach (Ben) Howland that I wanted to be at Mississippi State next year. He got really excited. I told him that I wanted to announce it at my school before it got out. He respected me for doing that. Then I signed with Mississippi State this morning."
You mentioned calling Coach Howland and telling him you were going to sign with Mississippi State. What are your thoughts about him as a coach?
"I think Coach Howland is a really good coach. Just the way he talks to people, it just makes you think. That is why I committed, he is successful in getting people to the next level. When he told me that I have a chance to be that type kid, that really hit me. It made me want to make it official."
Your primary recruiter for Mississippi State was assistant coach Korey McCray. What are your thoughts about him?
"Coach McCray is a really good person, a really good recruiter. He really helped me seal the deal also."
You officially visited Mississippi State the past three days. What was the visit like?
"(The visit) was great because (Starkville) is similar to my hometown. So, I know I will feel at home there. All the sports coaches and even the people who weren't coaches, they made it feel like a family there. I really respected that and liked that."
What did you do once you left Mississippi State after your official visit there. In other words, what was the process leading up to you choosing Mississippi State?
"Me and my dad and my AAU coach Mike Scott talked it over and we all felt like this is a great opportunity and something that I couldn't pass up. So, we decided to make it official."
What schools made you final list?
"I considered Mississippi State, Texas and the prep school that I was thinking about, which was Hargrave Academy."
What caused you to decide to attend college next season instead of going to prep school?
"I was playing AAU over the spring and the biggest thing with me was my confidence (level). In those two tournaments in Dallas and Indianapolis I felt like I built a lot of confidence in myself and was believing in myself a lot more. So, I just felt like I was ready (to play college ball)."
When do you plan on attending Mississippi State?
"I think I am coming to Mississippi State the 4th of June for a summer training type session. I want to get there and progress as a player and a student."
