"I am receiving interest from Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Syracuse, UCLA, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Texas, Kansas, Michigan and Michigan State," said Gilmore. "I have offers from Mississippi State and Ole Miss. I have had the offer from Mississippi State for a pretty good while. I just recently received the Ole Miss offer."
Although he isn't ready to name a leader, Gilmore is very impress with the coaching hire Mississippi State made when they hired Ben Howland as their new head coach.
"It affected me a lot because Coach Howland has a bunch of heavyweights under his belt, like Russell Westbrook and Jrue Holiday," said Gilmore. "I think he will instill a work ethic there that nobody will be able to take away."
He explained how he knows so much about Howland.
"I knew about him beforehand because I used to watch a lot of UCLA basketball, how they worked during a game and how he coached them," said Gilmore.
He believes that Howland coaching at Mississippi State will not only help Mississippi State but also high school basketball in the state of Mississippi.
"When he was hired, I said to myself yes!," said Gilmore. "I thought that is going to put us on the map as far as college basketball and high school basketball as far as Malik (Newman, who signed with Mississippi State). As far as college basketball goes nobody expects Mississippi State to be good at basketball, but now now that he is there that will change a lot."
One of Mississippi State's top targets in the 2017 class, Coach Howland has already reached out to Devin Gilmore through his high school head coach. And Gilmore has plans to meet Howland soon.
"(Madison-Ridgeland Academy head basketball) Coach (Richard) Duease, my high school coach, told me that he had talked to Coach Howland two weeks ago and that we are going to their basketball camp this year," said Gilmore. "I will get to know Coach Howland when I go to the camp or when I go on my unofficial visits."
Another coach on the Mississippi State staff is George Brooks. Brooks has been recruiting Gilmore for a number of years.
"Coach Brooks is a world class guy," said Gilmore. "He is a really nice man. I got to know him when he was with (former Mississippi State head) Coach Rick Ray. And he has shown a lot of love to me and my parents."
