Askew Makes Return Trip to Starkville

McAdory High School star Malcolm Askew is one of the top prospects in the southeast for the 2017 signing class. With over thirty offers to his credit, Askew has put together one of the top offer sheets nationally in his graduating class. Fresh off a trip to Alabama, Askew and a few friends are in Starkville set to take part in the Mississippi State summer camp on Thursday.

"This is my fourth trip down to Mississippi State," Askew said. "There is a great vibe here and I like Coach (DeShea) Townsend. He is a great DB coach and I have a great relationship with him."

From the sound of things, it appears that Askew and Townsend have a fair share of mutual admiration.

"He likes my height and how athletic I am. When they first offered, Coach (Geoff) Collins was recruiting me, but he left and went to Florida. Since then Coach Townsend took over and I just stay in touch with him. Coach Billy Gonzales tries to get me to come into his meeting room, so you just never know what's going to happen over here."

Alabama made a strong impression on Askew over the weekend, a feat that the Bulldogs hope to match this week. The rising junior reports that he is not sure when he will decide, but he has a good idea about what he is looking for in a college football program.

"One of the main things I am looking for is honesty from the coaches," Askew said. "That is the main thing for me. I have to have honestly from the people that are recruiting me and that are going to be coaching me.

"Academics are important to me as well. I am going to have to have a degree in my pocket when I leave here. I know football is not going to last forever. Those are some of the main things I am looking for, honesty and an education."
