Jones Works With Diaz

Bessemer Academy linebacker Jordan Jones was one of several college football hopefuls on the Mississippi State football campus on Wednesday as the Bulldog coaching staff continued to mine for quality football players. Jones picked up an early Bulldog offer from former Mississippi State defensive coordinator Geoff Collins. Jones was back in town to work with Manny Diaz and foster that relationship.

"Things went extremely well," Jones said at the conclusion of camp. "There were some great coaches, a great coaching staff. Coach Diaz is a great linebacker coach and I learned a lot here. I am hoping that I can take what I learned today and put it on the field in this upcoming season."

Jones reports that one of the biggest drawing cards for Mississippi State is the chance to play for Manny Diaz.

"Coach is a great coach," Jones said. "He's just real. He means business and he gets the best out of you."

Jones holds a few early offers and is working through the summer camp rounds to validate those offers and earn some others.

"I have offers from Arkansas State, Cincinnati, Southern Miss and Mississippi State," Jones said. "I am going to Samford (Thursday) for the University of Memphis' football camp, Friday I am going to be at Prattville for the satellite camp for Michigan and Saturday I am going to Miami."

Jones reports that he is no hurry to close out the recruiting process and that he is eager to learn what options he may acquire during his senior season.

"I am undecided right now," Jones said. "I am not going to be in any hurry. You may hear from me in the middle of the season or I might just wait until next year and make my decision sometime around signing day in February."
