Individually, you had a great season, hitting .441 with 10 home runs, 24 stolen bases and 51 RBI. What are your thoughts about your season?
"My power picked up this year. And we were still using the old ball, the high seam ball. I was using the same bat that Mississippi State used, the Adidas bat. Defensively, I only had 5 passed balls the entire year. None of the passed balls that I had came with runners on base. I definitely got better at blocking balls in the dirt. And my arm got a lot stronger this year."

You were selected Alabama's Gatorade Player of the Year. I'm sure you are very proud of that honor?
"Yes sir, I am. I am very proud of winning that award, knowing how hard I worked this year and it paying it off with that award. The catcher doesn't normally get recognition. A catcher is like football's offensive linemen, they don't get recognized much either.

"I think the coolest thing was the video they did which showed all the people who have won it over the years, Peyton Manning, John Smoltz, Derek Jeter. It's cool to know that I share history with them."

You are a very versatile player. What positions did you play this season?
"I caught and I played a lot of second base."

What positions did you play for Dulins Dodgers last summer?
"I caught, played second, played short, played third and played left field."

Not only did you have a great season but your team did too, didn't they?
"We did. We lost out to Cullman in the third game of the state championship."

What are your thoughts about coming in with a Mississippi State baseball class that is currently ranked 3rd in the nation?
"It is going to be awesome. A lot of us played with each other all summer (with Dulins Dodgers). I think we will, hopefully, come in and turn the program back around. I think this class is stacked."

Have the State coaches talked about where they want to play you once you get to Mississippi State?
"They have talked about looking at multiple positions. They said they can put me at different positions as long as I can bat."

Where do you want to play on the field?
"I don't really care. I just want to be on the field. They can put me anywhere. I will play wherever I can help out the most."

Have the pro scouts talked about where they think you fit in the Major League Baseball Draft?
"We have heard a little bit about it, but not much. We are just going along with it. If it happens, it happens, if not, then I am coming to Mississippi State and I couldn't be happier."

What are your thoughts about pro or college?
"I just want to play baseball, whether it be at Mississippi State or professionally. I just want to play baseball."
