White Talks Bulldog Camp

Davon White of Harrison Central is a name to remember for fans of football on the gulf coast of Mississippi. The rising senior had a good showing at Mississippi State's Saturday camp session. More camps are scheduled in the coming weeks, so followers of recruiting in the Magnolia State should expect to hear White's name mentioned more prominently.

"This was a great experience," White said of Mississippi State's camp. "It was fun working with Coach (Greg) Knox. He made it real easy for me. He is real energetic and I like that."

Knox put his running back prospects through a battery of drills in order to evaluate their skills as he considers his options for the 2016 signing class.

"The drills for the most part were pretty easy. I enjoyed all of it," White explained. "Coach Knox gave me some great feedback. He told me that he would use me as a speed back. I enjoyed all of that.

"I ran a 4.48 in the 40. I felt a little faster out here today. It was a good day."

Despite growing up in Mississippi, Saturday marked the first time that White had visited the Mississippi State campus. He came away impressed.

"This is a great school," White said. "They have a great campus. I like the feeling here. They have a good atmosphere here."

The Bulldogs have not extended an offer to date, but Louisiana-Lafayette has and several other schools are showing interest.

"I am hearing from Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Memphis, ULL and a few other schools," White said. "I am going to Southern Miss' camp and they are saying that they want to offer me. I just have to go camp there and then they may offer me."

In addition to making the summer camp rounds, White is working hard to prepare for his senior season as a Red Rebel at Harrison Central.

"We should be about business this year," White said. "We are trying to go win a championship this year. I think we're going to have a little extra push this year, because we have a team full of seniors that want to win a championship."
