1-on-1 With Tearia McCowan

Mississippi State women's basketball freshman center Tearia McCowan talks one-on-one with Gene's Page.

What has it been like for you the first two weeks being at Mississippi State? You have gone from being a 5-star recruit, a Parade All-American to being a freshman all over again.
"Me becoming a freshman again is like starting all over again. But I am starting over at a school that is ranked really high. And I want to help my team get to the highest level that we can get to. And I also want to help my team get a ring."

Have you ever gone against girls your size in practice prior to coming here?
"No, I have never gone against anybody as tall as me or even close to my height. I am always going against girls that are 5-9 to maybe 6-2 but never anybody 6-5."

Now you are going against somebody that is 6-foot-5 (Chinwe Okorie), how has that helped your game?
"I feel like it will better my game because I am actually going to have to compete and work harder to get my shot over somebody that is similar to my size."

What will MSU fans see from you when you are on the court?
"My defensive game, my offensive game and my passing. For a post player, I pass really well. I do a good job of getting the ball up the floor in transition to my point guard."
