Collum is ranked 36th nationally in the class of 2019 by Future150.
You are ranked among the top 40 players in your class. Why do you believe you are ranked that high?
"Everybody tells me that for me to be so tall it is not normal for a point guard to be 6-foot-4."
What are your strengths on the court?
"I really just make plays. I get to the hole when I need to. But I get more assists. I average something like 10 assists per game."
Has that been natural for you?
"No sir, not really. When I first starting playing basketball I did cartwheels down the court. I was dancing in the middle of the court. I didn't have a clue about basketball. I was 6-years-old at the time."
Something happen along the way and you got better.
"I play for the Memphis War Eagles and I stayed on the block the entire time. Then, when I went to middle school my coach told me that I needed to do other positions. So, I started being a point guard. I was 6-foot-3, 6-foot-4."
Why did you choose point guard?
"My coach told me that I was a point guard."
Why did he believe that?
"He said I have always had good handles. And he said I can see the floor very well. So, he told me he wanted me to bring the ball up the court."
What are your strengths offensively?
"My size and my ability to get around you. I have good length. I can take two steps from the free throw line and be at the rim."
What kind of outside shot do you have?
"My mid-range is good and my three-point is ok."
What are some things that you are keying on?
"My jump shot and my free throws."
Have you attended any college basketball games?
"Yes sir, I have."
What do you learn by watching college players?
"I see how they play and know how I play. I know how I need to improve my game to play on the college level. I have seen players get the rebound and go right back up. When I get the rebound I wait a second, then go back up. The point guards when they get the ball they go straight down the court. If they don't have anything then they will bring it back out. What I do is wait for the defense to get down the court, then I bring it down the court."
How are you incorporating those things into your game?
"I think about the things that I need to work on while at home. Then I try to add those things to my game."
Do you know what schools are showing interest in you right now?
"I'm not really sure. My coach hasn't told me."
