  • What was the process leading up to the offer?
"We went to their team camp this past weekend and I played really, really good. Afterwards, they showed a lot of interest in me. And today they offered me a scholarship."

Did they call you and tell you that you had the offer?
"They invited me to their (MSU head coach) Ben Howland's office. We were in there and he was talking to me telling me how much he liked me and liked the way I played. Then, he said he wanted to offer me a scholarship."

When he offered what was your reaction?
"I was really excited when he offered me, really excited."

When he was talking to you did you think that he was about to offer you?
"Yes sir, I did. I thought it was coming."

Now that you have had the chance to get to know Coach Howland, what are your thoughts about him as a person and as a coach?
"I think he is a really good person, and an even better coach. I think he is a really, really good coach. I think that due to some of the things that he talked about and also all the players that he coached in college and are now in the NBA, Kevin Love, Russell Westbrook, Jrue Holiday, players like that. Just knowing that he wanted to offer me a scholarship means a lot."

You mentioned him coaching players that now play in the NBA. What does that mean to you as a basketball player?
"It tells me that if he gets to coach me one day that if I work hard and listen to him all the time they maybe I could be like the guys that he has sent to the NBA."

You mentioned earlier that you played really well at the MSU team camp. I saw you playing in an AAU tournament in New Orleans in May. And you played really, really well in that tournament. Did you play that well at the MSU camp?
"Yes sir, it was really similar to how I played in New Orleans. I played point guard and ran my team as a leader. I shot lights out and played good defense but most of all I think I impressed them with my leadership skills and the way that I shot the ball."

Is Mississippi State you first high-major offer?
"Yes sir, they are the first one. There are a lot of other big-time schools that have been calling me, Iowa State, Memphis, Ole Miss and Oklahoma."

What are your thoughts about Mississippi State now that you have received an offer from them?
"Me growing up in Starkville I have always gone to Mississippi State basketball games. And knowing that my dad played there, it really does mean a lot. It is really special that they offered me and want me to come there."

Now that you have the offer, what are your plans recruiting-wise?
"I'm really thankful for the offer from Mississippi State but we are going to take our time, probably wait until after the July live (evaluation) period when coaches can come out and watch us play (AAU ball)."

Did your dad go with you on the visit today? If so, what are his thoughts about the offer?
"Yes sir, my dad went with me. I think he is excited like I am but I couldn't really tell. I think he thinks we should take things slow and see what happens in July. But I know he is really proud of me."
