Fondal Plans Trip to Starkville

Taylor Fondal is a name on the rise. The New Iberia, Louisiana standout has collected a pair of SEC offers with other league schools showing serious interest. As the summer camps continue into the month of July, Fondal plans to make a few trips to see what his most serious suitors have to say in person.

In two weeks time, Fondal will make his first trip to Starkville, Mississippi to see what the Bulldogs have to offer.

"I am going up there for the Big Dawg camp," Fondal said. "This will be the first time I have been to Mississippi State. I want to get up there and see the coaches and just workout and show them what I can do."

The Mississippi State coaching staff appears to be one Fondal's most consistent schools of interest.

"They stay in touch with me," Fondal said. "I am in contact with them pretty regularly, so I feel like they really like me. There are some other schools that make me feel like a priority too. The main ones right now are Mississippi State, Western Kentucky, Louisiana Tech, Southern Miss and Ole Miss.

"South Carolina has been showing a lot of interest too. There are a few schools that are talking about offering me, but they want to see me in camp first. South Carolina is saying that I just need to come to camp and then they are probably going to offer me."

Fondal recently won a track and field state championship for Westgate High School and is poised for a big year on the gridiron this fall. Before Fondal takes the football field as a senior, he plans to have his college recruitment behind him.

"I don't really have a favorite school right now, but I want to make my decision in late August," Fondal said. "I just want to get all of that over with, so I can focus on my senior year. I plan to visit some schools this summer and just see where I fit in the best and then make my decision before the season."
