"It felt good to be out here, because we had a lot of competition. There were a lot of Big Dawgs here," Jones explained. "I just liked the surroundings. There were a lot of great athletes here. I thrive off of competition."
While many other high school prospects showed up with their teammates and families, Jones hit the scene and fell right in with the ranks of the current Mississippi State defensive lineman.
"As much as I have been here, I have formed a great relationship with all of those guys," Jones said of the Bulldog players. "Those guys are all real cool and they just give me pointers and things like that. It helps to get some pointers from guys who play on the next level."
While many high school players look to win their on the field encounters through size and strength, Jones is looking to refine his technique to become an even better player.
"I have been really working on everything and I have learned about the timing of when to put your move in to beat your man and get to the quarterback," Jones explained.
The summer travels are winding down for Jones who is preparing to lead his team to a potential state championship.
"I am really getting focused on the season right now," Jones said. "Our defense is full of veterans. I am really confident in our defense all across the board. I think we have the chance to have a great season this year. I'm ready."
