4-Star Tyson Carter Talks MSU Visit

Starkville (MS) High School 4-star point guard Tyson Carter talked to Gene's Page about his unofficial visit to Mississippi State Saturday afternoon.

How did you wind up visiting Mississippi State yesterday?
"I knew that I was going to be there for the football jamboree (that Starkville High School was playing in) and Mario (Kegler) was also coming so we decided to visit also."

Did they talk to you about how you fit into their style of play, similar to what they did with Mario Kegler while he was visiting?
"They did. They talked about the things that I do well and how I could fit in with what they do, shoot the ball, things like that."

What are your thoughts about Coach Howland?
"He is a nice guy. We talk about basketball. And he is very knowledgeable about the game. He has gotten a lot of players in the NBA, a lot of guards."

Does how many players that he has put into the NBA factor into your thoughts about Mississippi State?
"It does. That means a lot to me. If I decide to go there that would factor into my development."

What does it mean to you that you have received so many offers this summer? I think you are up to 18 or 19 offers now.
"It has been a little crazy. It started in June when we started traveling (with AAU ball). I was playing really well because I had gotten a lot better in June. I was playing really well and the offers started coming in."

I guess it was pretty exciting to you to receive so many offers in such a short period of time?
"Yes, it was pretty exciting."

You have a lot of offers. Now you have to start cutting your list down to a final list of schools that you will visit. When do you plan on starting that process?
"I am cutting my list down in the next couple of days. Then I will take some visits this fall. I plan on signing in November."

What are your thoughts about Mississippi State? Where do they fit in your recruitment?
"They are in my top six schools."

Do you have a top six?
"Yes sir, that is what I am going to cut it down to."

What will your top six schools have that makes them your top six?
"They will be schools where I feel like I can have the most success at and be the best that I can be."
