Offensive tackle Greg Eiland has made some solid strides in his development as a player. Gone is the stiffness that plagued the 6-7 monster early in his career. Eiland has become more of a knee bender rather than a waist bender, which enables him to be more explosive.
Eiland shows a good initial punch, but also does a good job of evading front line defenders and getting to the second level to extend plays. The staff at Philadelphia will move Eiland from left to right depending on the situation, but it is clear that when the Tornadoes need a place to run, they find big #55 and follow him.
My initial evaluation was that Eiland would likely be a right tackle on the next level, but based on his progress, it appears Eiland could be a college level left tackle. Some of earlier concerns were about Eiland's mobility, but he answered those on Friday night.
This summer during the camp sessions, Eiland showed some good skill, but he has continued to improve upon that. He simply looks like a different player.
