Bulldog Defensive End Tabbed by League Office After 7-Stop Day

Ryan Brown knew he’d had a good Saturday. On Monday he learned it was good enough to earn SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week.

Mississippi State’s senior defensive end put in a relatively short and definitely big day in a 45-17 home victory over Troy. Brown was credited with seven total tackles, and exactly half of those were scored as tackles for losses. That 3.5 TFLs were best on the day by an SEC defender, any position.

Brown was just the lead Dog though for a defense which spent most of the afternoon in Troy’s backfield. There were a total 15.0 tackles for losses, including sacks, scored by the Bulldog defense.

This is Brown’s first on-field SEC honor. He was named to the league’s Academic Honor Roll last year.

Mississippi State stays home this week, hosting Louisiana Tech at 11:00am.
