Hinds CC wide receiver Javon Wims plans return trips to a pair of SEC Western Division schools.

Hinds Community College wide out Javon Wims continues to enjoy the recruiting process. With a handful of offers to his credit, Wims is now in talks with a pair of SEC programs about what their needs are at his position heading into the 2016 season.

At last report, Wims (6-4, 212) was planning to take unofficial visits to both Alabama and Mississippi State. Both of those excursions proved to be eye opening.

"Mississippi State played Troy when I went up there and they did a great job showing me around and everything," Wims said. "I got to talk with a lot of the coaches and players. I got to meet a lot of people and everybody made me feel at home up there."

Wims reports that he had the chance to get some face time with Bulldog wide out boss Billy Gonzales before he returned to Raymond.

"Coach Gonzales told me that they are looking for a big receiver like me in case De'Runnya Wilson declares for the draft," Wims explained. "They like to throw the ball up there and I was watching how they used all of the receivers.

"They told me before I left that an offer was coming."

The following weekend, Wims made his first visit to Tuscaloosa to see the Tide play Arkansas.

"I had a great time up there and it's a great atmosphere," Wims said. "They told me that they are going to be losing a lot of senior receivers. They have a lot of young guys coming back, but they said that they are looking for an older guy to come in and compete for a starting spot while those young guys are learning.

"They haven't offered me yet, but they are talking about it."

Wims holds offers from Arkansas State, Memphis, North Texas and Southern Miss with more schools considering following suit.

Over the course of the coming weeks, Wims plans to visit several interested programs to see how he would fit in should be elect to join those programs.

"I am going back to Mississippi State this weekend to see them play Kentucky," Wims shared. "I am going back to Alabama when they play LSU and I am going to Southern Miss Halloween weekend. I am going to get up to Memphis for a game too."

Wims has not set up any official visits just yet, but he expects to do that later in the process.

"I am sure I am going to take some visits next month or after the season," Wims said. "I still have time for all of that. I want to take my visits and then talk about everything with my family before I make any decisions. I am not trying to rush things, but I am not going to wait until the last minute either."

On the season, Wims has 46 catches for 765 yards and nine touchdowns. The Miami, Florida native and the rest of the Eagles will travel to Southwest Mississippi Community College this evening for the final game of the regular season.
