Dak Prescott was announced by the SEC as their Offensive Player of the Week today. This came after the Mississippi State senior quarterback led the Bulldogs to a dramatic 51-50 victory at Arkansas, in which Prescott added more program and conference records to his already-long resume.
Prescott threw for 508 yards and five touchdowns, both MSU game records, in the win. He also rushed for a pair of scores and joined the short list of SEC players responsible for seven touchdowns in one game.
But in the process, Prescott became the first SEC player to account for both 550 or more yards, passing and/or rushing; and seven touchdowns in the same game.
This is Prescott’s fourth Offensive POTW recognition, though the first of 2015. He is the reigning first team All-SEC quarterback and on track to become only the second Bulldog to repeat as first team quarterback since Billy Stacy in 1956-57.
But this week records matter little if anything to the Bulldog senior. Saturday brings his final Battle for the Golden Egg (6:15) and last home game. Prescott intends to walk off Scott Field with both one more Mississippi State victory, and carrying the only trophy that really matters in Bulldog County.
