Rick Court has accepted the strength and conditioning post at the University of Maryland, according to reports. Court has been in overall charge of all Mississippi State strength programs with first focus on Bulldog football since January 2014. Mississippi State has not confirmed Court is leaving as of Monday morning.
If correct, Court would be reuniting with new Maryland head football coach D.J. Durkin, hired last week. Court and Durkin have worked together before. Court was assistant strength coach at Bowling Green 2003-07, and head strength coach in 2008. In 2005 and ’06 Durkin was coaching linebackers, defensive ends, and special teams at BGU.
Court would be just the second staff member reported hired by Durkin so far.
Court has been only the second strength coach for Dan Mullen’s program. He replaced Matt Balis, who after five years at Mississippi State took the same post at Connecticut.
The Bulldogs are involved with final semester exams most of this week. On Friday, Mullen and staff begin preparing their team for the Belk Bowl (December 30) with the campus portion of camp. The full schedule is to be published mid-week.
